VENUE TECHNICAL INFORMATION – PA / Video / Network
SOUND SYSTEM / HOUSE ENGINEERS – MAIN HALL
The sound system is a high resolution 2500 watt PA system. The main mixer is a 48 channel Yamaha mixer. The stage box has 8 mike and 8 DI instrument inputs. There are four radio channels: 2 hand held mikes, one headset or lapel, and one guitar pack. Good quality foldback for band or DJ is provided. Technical details listed below.
The main hall system sound level will be restricted to 93 dBAeq (full spectrum, 5minute average) and 93dB (5min) in the 63Hz octave. These levels prevent nuisance to our neighbours. When a house engineer is present the house system limiter is off, the house engineer will monitor the level using SPLtrack (as used at Glastonbury) and adjust the levels if necessary to stay inside the 5 minute averages. The meter level can be displayed on a laptop PC for the DJ as a guide. Use of brought in PA equipment is not allowed.
The sound limits are adequate for acoustic evenings, moderate function music / quiet disco music. Its loud enough for folk, jazz and light rock bands, for people to dance, and for most functions its louder than the client will want. But its not a rock venue, loud disco or club level of sound. If you need loud music, this is not the right venue.
Excess level: As DJ outputs are routed through the PA, our engineer will ensure the level is not too high. Bands with their own backline may be able to fill the sound limit with drums, and bass and guitar amps. In that case vocals may have to be turned down to avoid excessive level, and the vocal may be hard to hear. The house engineer will direct musicians to play at levels that allow a balanced sound. If the backline level remains too high, the mix may be poor. The venue reserves the right to tell musicians to turn down, or to stop playing if they continue to play at excessive levels. Provided musicians work with us we will ensure the sound is excellent.
HOUSE ENGINEERS / TECHNICAL SUPPORT
All function hire prices including PA provide a house engineer for the duration of the event. The house engineer will setup PA and stage lighting, also feature lighting and projection where booked. The engineer will operate the PA. If you want to have projection or lighting cues, you will need to provide operators, or book additional engineers with the venue.
The sound and video equipment may only be operated by church staff except by prior agreement. The systems may not be adjusted, modified or connected to without the prior agreement of the church technical team.
